*We would like to invite everyone to answer this survey on island housing situation and needs.<\/strong>*<\/p>\n

The purpose of this study to ascertain the views and needs of island residents on their household\u2019s present housing circumstances and future housing requirements. The research is being carried out in partnership between Comhar na nOile\u00e1n and researchers from University College Cork (UCC).<\/p>\n

What would your participation involve?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Should you choose to participate, you will be asked to complete a survey questionnaire, which will include questions on your current housing circumstances and future housing needs.<\/p>\n

Why is your participation important<\/strong><\/p>\n

The results of this survey will be used to identify challenges and possible solutions, and in communication with different stakeholders in the local, regional and national level \u2013 including any possible funding bodies.<\/p>\n

This survey is for everyone currently living on an island or thinking about moving to an island. It would be especially important that we could capture the needs of those whose housing situation at the moment is not ideal be it e.g. because of lack of housing or because the grants available for retrofitting are not adequate \u2013 or anything in between!<\/p>\n

Many people worked continuously on this issue, both primary and post primary since the allowances were removed in 2012 for all new hires from that time. CO\u00c9 pursued the issue throughout that period.<\/p>\n

A special thank you to INTO and John Boyle, Gen Secretary of INTO union, as the Primary Teachers\u2019 Union and IPPN Primary Principals\u2019 Professional Network agreed to focus the available 1% of total teachers\u2019 pay bill which was local bargaining or targetable funds within the national agreement on a few key issues: Island Schools; Gaeltacht Schools; DEIS Band 1 Schools (including DEIS plus primary schools)<\/strong>, DEIS schools being the most disadvantaged schools.<\/p>\n
